What Would Jesus Do
Now that is a good question! WWJD. I see
this all the time on bumper stickers, I have heard it uttered by
Christians and I have heard it on Christian television.
What Would Jesus Do? This
question my friends is an excellent question. If I understand it correctly,
it is the question you are supposed to ask yourself before making a
decision. If you make all your decisions based on biblical principals
you will surely enjoy eternal salvation, or it is supposed to work that
way. WWJD is meant as a reminder that God is always watching and keeping
score. God would like all in His flock to use His holy word to guide us in
our decision making. As humans we have free will (presumably a God given
gift) and we are faced with thousands of decisions every day. As we get
older it seems life can become much more complicated, therefore more
complex decisions are required. However because humans can learn from
mistakes some decisions are made very easily and it easily escapes our
mind that every day we encounter decisions on a minute by minute
basis. Example: What time should I wake? Decision:
At 7 am, if I wake later I will be late for work. It may
not seem like it is a decision but it is. Calling on my past experience or
memory I have decided that 7 am is the prefect time to wake. So some
decisions come automatically, without thinking about it. To wake at 7 am
is a perfectly sane decision and it was made based on my past
experience. Now lets apply WWJD to that same scenario.
Would I arrive at the same answer? Would Jesus wake at 7 am? Would Jesus
hit the snooze button? If Jesus is perfect would he even need an alarm
clock? Does Jesus need as much sleep as mortal humans? How many hours of
sleep does Jesus need? If Jesus is sleep deprived can he save as many
souls? Would Jesus wake early and help prepare breakfast for the
homeless? So as you can see the decision I made is
perfect for me.... we can never know what Jesus would do because he is not
a mortal human being according to the Bible and its very popular
Resurrection section. So to base your decisions on WWJD is
impossible because Jesus is working with a completely different set of circumstances
and criteria that mortal humans like ourselves will never be able to
completely comprehend. Of course, you have to accept the theory that Jesus
is not mortal and is indeed the Son of God.
